A combination of sensitive pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and steering by articulation only, i.e. they bend in the middle of the chassis, make these an absorbing and difficult vehicle to manoeuvre and control.

A tight slalom course, fully rotational turns, full extension and lowering of the tipping body in the 'Dump Zone' and a race against the clock as the teams attempt a quick time, is all that is required. All under the expert guidance of a registered instructor, of course.
