This is a self contained 'room' made up of wooden scenery sections painted and adorned to resemble an old Chinese warehouse covering a floor area of 1200 sq. ft. to accommodate between 70 and 100 guests.
As the guests enter the Den they will be transported to 1930's Shanghai with the use of scenery, props, lighting and scents of the Orient. During the first part of the evening a Magician, acting as a con-man relieves the guests of some of their Shanghai Dollars by playing Find The Lady and other games. Later he performs a cabaret show along with the resident Singer who is also performing as the guests enter the Den. Tables made from 'Opium' boxes, and chairs are placed around the front of the stage for those who wish to enjoy the cabaret or just sit, chat and take in the surroundings.
In one corner a Chinese Mystic is telling fortunes (for amusement only) using Oriental Tarot Cards and the ancient Oracle of I-Ching.
The room will be set out with a variety of four different gambling tables and a Rice Rat Racing game. All the staff are dressed in Chinese attire, with the manager of the club dressed as an old Colonial. There might even be some Triad Gang members trying to corrupt a number of the guests.
All the games are played with imitation Shanghai Dollars which can be personalised by incorporating the company logo on them if required, and the games on offer to the guests in the Den are :-
Rice Rat Racing
Heavy betting is anticipated as a series of four or five Rice Rat races take place throughout the evening. Guests bet on which rat will finish the course first.
Sic Bo
A popular Chinese dice game where players bet on the varying combinations of three dice turned in a metal cage. The winning combinations are illuminated on the betting layout to enable players to easily understand the game.
Pai-Gow
Played with traditional Chinese tiles (dominoes) where players select 4 tiles from the pile and formulate two hands (as in cards) gambling that they can create better hands than the dealer.
Game of Death
Each of the 8 participants will pay an entry fee (fun money) to enter each round. After a competition of skill and/or luck one of the participants will be eliminated. The winner will collect the 'pool of money'.
Super Pan 9
A card game where one player puts up the 'Bank' and the other players compete individually against him or her. The object of the game is to hold a hand nearer to 9 than the Banker by adding the three cards in your hand together and ignoring 10's and multiples of 10. There is an option to take a fourth card if you so wish.
If the Bankers 'Bank' is not sufficient to cover any losses the house will make up the difference. Similarly if the winnings exceed the Bank the house takes up the difference.
To bring the event to a close, the Dragon Pit will be raided by the Shanghai Police, who will close down the club, arrest the owner and any other suspicious looking characters, and escort the guests back to the bar, where the night's High Roller can be awarded with a prize.
This will be one evening that your guests will never forget.
